The Chesterland Lions Club Football Program would like to welcome all of our young athletes as well as their parents and family.  We are proud to sponsor and run our community’s West Geauga Youth Football since 1969.  It takes a lot of dedicated volunteers and commitment to have a successful program.  Our football program motto is “WHERE IT ALL BEGINS” and so many have been through this program.  We are so proud to see these young athletes grow into fine young people on and off the football field!  None of this would be possible without all the hard work of our volunteer Lions Club Members especially in our football program working concessions, field, score table, and coaching staff.  Also this is not possible without you, the parents and the community, volunteering, participating in annual fundraising and your tremendous support. 

OUR MISSION IN FOOTBALL

The Chesterland Lions Club Football Program aspires to be an outstanding educational-athletic organization that provides a high-quality experience to every young athlete.  A high-quality experience is one in which every athlete: 

· Is coached using safe positive principles. 

· Has fun at practices and games.

· Feels like an important part of the team regardless of performance.

· Learns “life lessons” that have value beyond the playing field.

· Learns the lesson that hard work has rewards.

· Learns the skills and fundamentals of the game of football.

· Learns the value of teamwork. 

We recognize that coaches are the people who most directly make this all possible. It is our goal to provide every coach with the tools to succeed. We are committed to creating a positive culture, in which coaches, parents, fans, officials and young athletes work together to achieve our mission.  We have been and continue to be partnered with USA Football and RIDDELL to make sure youth football continues to be safer than ever before see our partners below.

WHO CAN PARTICIPATE

The Chesterland Lions Club Youth Football & Cheer Program is a member of the Great Lakes Youth Football League www.glyfl.com   Athletes in 1st-6th grade are eligible to participate in the program and learn the fundamentals of football, sportsmanship and the values of teamwork.  Sign-ups are on a first come basis, A and B division teams will max out at 25 players and 14 players for the C’s.  Everyone else will be put on a waiting list. If we get enough kids to make two teams (42 (each) for the A and B divisions, 20 for the Cs) and there are coaches, we will make more than one team. If there is more than one team, there will be a draft. Cheerleading will be cut off at 100 kids.
